A Connecticut based ophthalmologic practice turns to OptfinITy for custom surgery scheduling development, Medical Practice software assistance and technology strategy.

 

The Client

 

The Ophthalmology Practice is one of Connecticut’s most experienced, complete eye care providers. With over six ophthalmologists dedicated to providing the highest quality service in a professional, caring environment, they provide comprehensive eye care for adults and children from routine examinations, the latest in refractive surgical techniques, medical and surgical treatment of eye diseases, and a full service optical dispensary for glasses, sunglasses, contact lenses and low-vision appliances.

 

The Challenge

 

The Practice has two offices with a new one coming on board with rotating doctors, technicians, optical staff and an unpredictable set of requirements.  The server they were running was on 4+ year old hardware and running into technical challenges, their network was in need of upgrades and they needed assistance with their practice management software. 

 

OptfinITy’s SolutionCare Solution

 

OptfinITy was brought on in 2004 to provide expanded IT support to the medical facility before it relocated its main office to a larger facility for the 40 doctors and staff.

OptfinITy worked with the Ophthalmology Practice to develop a plan for overall system improvement and we accomplished the following:

  • Identified a list of needs and requirements.
  • Identified a short term and long term plan to achieve those requirements.
  • Implemented small business routers to manage their network configuration and to allow both offices to communicate with each other. 
  • Working with medical software providers, we installed a Small Business Server 2008 system to implement email collaboration, automatic backups of practice documents and integration of third party applications to manage their optical department.
  • Provided 24x7 monitoring and management of the network and on-going SolutionCare technical support options, including access to our helpdesk.

In addition to the completed tasks, OptfinITy has been able to provide support to the healthcare facility and their ongoing needs as the government requirements for healthcare firms continue to evolve.
